The Tinman

This Tinman is currently unavailable.

This costume was constructed for a production of The Wizard of Oz. The outfit was fully functional with articulated arms and legs. It was designed for strenuous duty and quick costume changes. After some practice the Tinman's 2 dressers could get him in and out of the costume in under 1 minute.

After two more productions I retired this particular costume and began a redesign of the costume. The stress of live production is intense and the costume will eventually fail. At least certain parts will. The redesign allows for replacement of any part of the costume. Some parts last virtually forever while others only seem to last about 50-60 rehearsal or performances. .

The picture you are looking at shows the protype costume after 10 straight performances and several rehearsals. No parts failed and the actor was able to do all the blocking and dancing that the director wished him to do.

The outfit is constructed of a lightwieght yet strong plastic. The legs are seperate and attach to a harness independantly. The torso comes apart in the center front and back. This costume looks absolutely fantastic under stage lights! As of 01/07/2008 the redesign is stalled in process.

Also in the works are silicone prosthetic makeup devices for the nose, chin and hands. Hopefully I can get both these projects completed in 2008!

For the makeup I reccomend Ben Nye's Lumiere Luxe powder mixed with LiquiSet. This makeup can be quickly applied and washes off easily with soap and water.
